Amp Question - FiiO E7 and E9 Combo

Hi there, sorry if this is in the wrong section, not sure if the E7 and E9 combo would be considered a full or portable set.

Anyhow, I'm about to make a purchase for the Fiio E7 and E9 together, for use with my AKG K702s.

This will be my first amp, I've heard this combo is a great deal for the price, and to date since I've gotten my K702s, they haven't seen much use because they aren't being driven properly by my MacBook.

My question is, when I'm using the amp + dac combo here, will I hear a difference in sound quality when playing 320kbps lossy MP3s, or will I need to play FLACs to really hear the difference? How big of a difference will there be in these two types of music files?

I've also heard a lot about Foobar, and am wondering if it offers any real advantage over iTunes, since I need to use iTunes to sync my library anyway. Any other tips or things I might need to know would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

If your headphones aren't being driven properly by the macbook you should notice quite a big difference when they are driven properly by the e9, foobar only sounds better because of the wasapi or asio plug-ins.

Audirvana is a great alternative to use with your Mac. And it's free. You hear a difference even with the normal headphone out.

Just drag your songs out of itunes into the playlist window and your done (files are not copied or moved, just played from the location they are at (in the itunes folder structure). And Audrivana makes sure it plays it as clean and high quality as possible.
