Fiio E11 The best portable in the price range?

I have been reading many good reviews about the Fiio E11, for it's price and people's comment, seems to be unbeatable.

Any other competitor that's better than it for >$100? I will be using the amp to drive my Shure SE215, Klipsch Image S4,

yet to arrive Dunu Ares and Hephaes, or whatever I decide to get next :P I just ordered a Fiio L9 line out form DX for $8.40,

seems to be the best deal ever, and waiting for the E11 to come back in stock. Any suggestion?

Dont you mean <$100 ? There is a veritable mountain of amps that will be better than the E11 north of $100.

Something is clearly being lost in the translation here - that or my dyslexia has overtaken my Alzheimers.

For less than $100, I think its CMoy vs PA2V2 vs E7 vs E11 vs used portables in the FS forum.

I had the PA2V2, didn't quite like it, and its too thick for me, I don't need the E7's DAC and people say E11 is better than E11 if I am not mistaking? CMoy hmmmm not quite sure

Are you familiar with Mike's work over at Headfonia ? He has made it his mission to review all of these 'cheap but cheerful' solutions.

off topic: I was just watching Top Gear, Jeremy said: There is no cheap and cheerful, there is only cheap and nasty, and expensive and cheerful:P

can you send me a link to that review? Thanks

>$100 means greater than $100.

And the E11 is indeed competitive in this price range, if you do not like the PA2V2 then you can't go much wrong with the E11. For the gear you listed though, the difference might not be all that big, but that doesn't take anything away from the amp.

anything about the cMoybb 2.03? vs e11

I don't know if it's the best and I think it's always a bit dry regaredless of settings but it's good and the form factor plus features is unbeatable.

of course...that in my eye is how an amp should look like.

But sound, that is the main part.

sorry, but where does that come from?

Soundmagic's volume knob is flawed. Its at the side/corner, and its ribbed, thus everytime you move it in and out of your pocket, there is a high chance of blowing your eardrums off...

Not in my experience.  The volume knob is actually a little stiff to turn, and it is nearly flush with the body -- it's never once changed on me in and out of my pockets banded with my Fuze.  If you keep the A10 volume at about 90% and set your player volume accordingly to get a comfortable listening level, then IF the volume wheel does move, it won't be much of a volume change.

The A10 is a very "musical" amp with a nice sense of space and airiness, and with the bass boost, has made my very analytical Ety HF5 sound nicely warm and full.

You can buy it from mp4nation.com, $70 USD, taking about 10 days to get from Hong Kong to the USA.
