Attempting JVC HARX700/HARX900 Mod: noise cancelation from old headphones.... Can it be done???

Okay, so after a bit of lurking and having a frequent frustration of getting the wrong headphones, I decided to go the DIY route and mod a pair of headphones I plan to buy. Someone pointed out how easy it is to make a ton of mods out of the versatile as well as fantastic bang/buck ratio JVC HARX700/900's. I plan to add a custom swappable jack line, the basic foam mods listed in the mod thread, and if possible, make them active noise cancelling.

I currently have a pair of monster beats ( forgive me I was young and reckless and naive :p ) with a useless broken frame. the electronics however still work. I was wondering if it is at all possible to salvage the noise canceling components, possibly the swappable jack as well, and implement these into the JVCs.

Here is an image I found of them gutted already:

I will freely admit I do not know my electronics as well as I would like, but it looks like I could put the guts I need in the JVCs, if not into a small box that I can pocket like a travel amp. Am I right to make this assumption? Or am I speaking crazytalk? I saw that headwize tutorial on going DIY and I have been told It takes a lot of battery. so I am hesitant there. Please tell me what you think/know.

Thanks in advance. :)

There is some tuning to noise cancelling circuit in response to enclosure microphone position and etc.  reusing a noise cancelling circuit from another headphone might just create an out of phase signal that will enhance the noise from the outside world. Unless your intention is to listen in on other people conversation this would be a bad idea.

At the risk of sounding stupid, is there any possibility of tweaking it to cater to my needs?

No idea, newer noise cancellation circuits are much more complex than the simple ones from the headwize article. Noise cancelling technology have improve since the old headwize article, altering the circuit might be difficult.Maybe if you keep the same cups or position the mics well enough

I think hype over the circuits has increased, not the circuit complexity.

If its something you (the OP) thinks would make an interesting project, try it! If your just looking to save a buck buy what you want second hand You'l save 2 bucks and a few hours of your time too.
