Headphone AMP for movie watching?

I'm looking for a good quality inexpensive amp for watching movies at home.  I have the Denon AH-D2000 and I was really surprised at how good they sounded by plugging it into the headphone jack on the side of the tv.  Unfortunately, I got a new samsung smart tv and it doesn't have a jack.  Maybe, there is something else you can recommend me instead of shelling out money for an amp.  I got a grado extension cable for my headphones as well.

Thank you.

Odd it doesn´t have a jack. Looked everywhere maybe they have hide it somewhere? It does have RCA out at least?

Yeah, the only thing I have is an audio out and an RCA (for red and white cables).  I was bummed they didn't have one.

I got that grado extension cable a while back to use with my parents samsung flat they have that had the head phone jack.  So I need some kind of cable that I could plug the little headphone jack it has on the end of it or I might need an AMP.  Kind of makes me mad since I have already shelled out 300 for the phones and 40 for the cable and now I need more.  I do love my headphones though.  Worth every penny.

That would be the one smily_headphones1.gif

Will it take away from the quality?  Should I check out mono price?

O yeah, another question when I plug the cable in, will it mute the sound on the tv?  I'll probably have to turn off the speakers.

I was looking at this one.

I'm sure best buy or radio shack has them too.  I hate best buy though.

If your TV is anything like the TVs I have tried there is not that much to destroy. You get audio and generally better then the crappy built in speakers on todays flat tvs :).

This one looks good. As long as it's gold plated (not just for sound, but it also resists corrosion) the quality won't make that much of a difference out of a television anyway.

Now, when i connect these to the back of the tv, will the speackers on the tv go out and produce the sound through my headphones?

Since the TV has an RCA audio out you should be able to plug this into a headphone amp or amp/dac. You could even find a headphone amp with speaker posts to really improve the sound. I'm starting to think that surround sound is almost unnecessary because the quality of the stereo output on TV and DVD is so good. I'm kinda old school so no surprise.

I should have stated that without an amp, when I plug the audio cables to the back of the tv, will it shut the speakers off of the tv and output sound to the headphones?  I'm trying to save somemoney without buying an amp.  I guess if I do need an amp, that's what it will have to be.  I was just looking to get the cables as an extension to my headphones to connect to the tv, but I don't want the speakers on the tv to be on when I have my headphones on.

Thank you.

You should see if the speakers on the TV can be shut off by a switch or from the menus. I do not think that using RCA outputs will shut off the TV speakers. You need to check and see if the RCA outputs are volume controlled or fixed.
