ART DI/O or $200 SONY SACDP

I cannot comment on the cheaper CD player but I'd like to add that the stock DI/O has hot 7V output. Some amps find this too high and may clip.

$50 to mod a CDP? What did you do?

I spent $50 on parts to mod my art. Factor in my labor (the art dio is a BIG pain to work on), and the price goes up. The difficulty in working on the art is the reason modders charge so much. What kind of amp do you use, mario?

Currently I can say that I have no headphones or amp....

I have a vintage 1963 SET Philips 2+2 Watt that just got repaired from the techinician and will cost a 3 digit number as I see it now for the repair-restoration.

It sounds warm and nice. I dont know if it would handle the 7Vs!!!

Not only that, the amount of adjustment you will have on the volume pot will be miniscule.

That's the thing, some people don't want to mod. You can always get inline attenuators for the high voltage output.

I believe in good power supply and you can get that bolder power supply for the DI/O where as to mod the power for the CD player is not as plug-n-play. You can remove the tube in ADC section also. That's about as far as you can go stock wise without soldering iron.
