Good headphones / IEM for Cowon J3 ?

Thread Starter

Hi all

I've been involved with audio for over 30 years. Mostly hi-end 2 channel stuff.   This is my first 'go round' with a portable player.  I've finally settled on a Cowon J3 32 gig.  I like the fact that you can record off of fm for later playback.  Hope that works out ok as it is important to me.

I'm looking for  very comfortable, light, decent sounding headphones /IEM for use with it.  I do not want to use a amp.

I'll also use the player in my car as well.

Sound quality should be decent, but the primary focus is comfort, and to drown out the noise from my co workers.  The portable system DOES NOT need to sound like my home system.

I'm leaning toward Grado lineup of  iGrado's, iGi, or maybe even GR8 as I am very familiar with Grado's 'house sound' and like it.

I'll be listening primarily to Rock and Jazz.

Is this a decent match ?

Informed opinions are welcome.  Ideally alternative 'phone choices should be priced at $200.00 or less.

I'm fairly stuck on the J3 as it has off the air record capability.

Thanks in advance

Regards

John

I could easily recommend the Audeo Phonak PFE 112. Very light, very comfortable, around $120 (I believe, I'm in the UK) and they sound fantastic for the money.
