Should I buy a receiver or an amp?

I can only buy one or the other currently for my "set up" (Computer --> Creative X-fi USB external sound card -->> Sennheiser HD 598

 

Which one do you guys recommend? Any other recommendations (Preferably store, not online)

Is it just for your headphones or do you have speakers too? Is $100 the max you would spend? And if online shopping is out then you have pretty much no selection to choose from and at higher prices. For around $100 id go e9 for headphone amp or a t-amp for both headphone and speakers

Just for headphones. I could go a little higher. Online shopping is still an option but not preferable. Thanks for your recommendations.

Do you honestly think radioshack is the best source for hi-fi audio applications? 

 

Think again, many... many times again.

 

Every consider DIY?  Saves you a lot.
