Looking for a good MP3 player to go with the Earsonics SM3.

Thread Starter

I just bought one of the last new Earsonics SM3 v1 left in this planet. Got a great deal that I couldn't let pass.

I like them quite a lot, but I am having some problems getting a perfect sinergy with my current equipment.

I have tried them with the Clip+, Irivier H120 and Nationite S:Flo2 and in IMHO only the Sansa gets along with the Earsonics. Adding the Headstage Arrow in to the equation doesn't change the picture all that much.

What I would like to improve is stereo separation, add a little bit of air in the treble and improve somewhat the definition.

I am considering selling the Nationite (which I don't like all that much) and buying a J3. I have never owned a Cowon so I don`t know if they would be an inmprovment over the Clip+ along the lines I mentioned before.

Let me finish with a question:

Earsonic SM3 users, which is your favourite mp3 player?

It's probably because it's a very sensitive headphone.  122dB/mW and very low impedance.   I would think that low power, low output impedance should have better synergy with headphone that is sensitive.

Thx for your reply. Would you know which player would fit that description?
