Best DAC for big bass?

Thread Starter

Which DAC has a really warm/dark presentation with very strong mid and sub bass performance?

I'd like one money-no-object suggestion, and one mid-price suggestion (similar price range as Cambridge Audio DACmagic)...?

Cheers!!

For a slightly warm presentation look for something with a class A output stage instead of op-amps...

But...  headphones and amp will affect the bass output about 50x more than which DAC you use. The Ultrasone Pro900 headphone will probably keep you happy...

You're looking in the wrong place. Headphones should be the first to look at when you're looking for a particular sound signature.

Zero DAC has amazing bass - not sure if your looking for something more high end but this is a bass lovers bargin for sure. Really impressive with HDAM's.

@ CustomNuts

are you referring to the FrankenZERO mod with the HDAM'S or a non modded ZERO with HDAM?

I find my Arcam rDAC to really warm up the low end and offer very decent impact using my

325i.

It might tame that current combo of yours -> K701 + Benchmark DAC1 if you're finding

hot treble every now and then.

Burson 160 has phenomenal bass at a pretty decent price.
