FS: Museatex Bitstream DAC with John Wright Upgrades (580 Euro + shipping)

Will Ship To: Anywhere

Although I doubt it will ever be easy to reacquire a similar one, I am selling my favourite Dac for downsizing my hugely expensive rig. This is the absolute star of my collection, Museatex Melior Bitstream with John Wright's mods. It's set to European voltage. Unfortunately, when being shipped (new) by the maker, the lower metal plate got dented on the back. Shipping back and forth across the ocean would have ended up in a huge loss of money, so I never asked for a replacement plate to have the dac replaced... The other reason was that my dac was a Rev1, considered better and warmer, while the replacement Bitstream, due to availability constraints, was a Rev2, less analogue sounding, which I didn't want. Still, the black wood and glass are really cool and the DAC looks stunning among the furniture. The wooden case is that of a Museatex Idat44 because John didn't have more Bitstream boxes: the visibile result though is that it just looks better as I feel black is more elegant (while the standard bitstream case is brown). The sound is stunning, simply fantastic. Most analogue-sounding digital source I have ever owned, with extremely deep bass and a lovely, magic midrange. The warmth is fantastic as the level of detail is, provided you have the right digital cable, to which it is very reactive. Soundstage is also amazing. It's very warm and spacious. I remember Moray James, who is a close friend to John Wright (they tune Museatex Dacs together as Moray builds digital cables around them), when telling me about Burn-in of the blackgates capacitors, "the sound reaches the depth of the earth". Back then (a couple of years ago) I had paid 1000 usd for the dac, + 100 usd for shipping and 150 for customs duties This is the dac which bested all the others for me, even Assemblage ones, which while having great qualities do not quite sound as "lifelike" and colorful to me. As said, there are a few cosmetic imperfections on the back and the bottom of the dac, but it is perfect as far as functionality goes and it will likely last for other 10-15 years before even requiring a check at John's place. Selling it for 580 Euro + shipping. Thanks for looking, Tony
