V-link - incompatible with Xiang Sheng dac-01A (Maverick Audio Tube Magic D1 & Grant Fidelity...

I have a problem with my V-link and Xiang Sheng dac-01A.  When I unpause a track or skip to the next one I get a loud tweeter-threatening pop.  (Both the V-link and the dac have been tested independently and are fine as long as they are not together.)  It seems that the Maverick and Grant Fidelity dac's are supposed to be rebadged Xiang Sheng's - has anyone with these dacs and a V-link got the same problem?

Cheers

The Maverick D1 is not exactly a rebranded Xiang Sheng dac.

It's more of a redesigned dac.

I have a problem with the Maverick D1 having compatible issues with the Musiland Monitor 02 US SPDIF outputs.

The D1 simply will NOT accept a SPDIF signal of higher than 48khz.

Optical doesn't even work.

I know it's not the Musiland. Tested it with 2 other devices, and it works.

Perhaps it's the DAC chip itself causing these problems. As like you, I tested my devices alone and they have no problems.

Yes, it's very frustrating!  While the popping noise sounds electrical, a bit like a short, the noise is present when I use an optical connection too. So yes, maybe this is a problem with the dac-chip - which has been made deliberately unidentifiable in the Xiang Sheng to protect their 'intellectual property', go figure...

Tell me about it. Go figure is correct. The Maverick D1 looks nice, but knowing this issue now, I wish I would have gotten something else for the price of $200.
