Best Albums of the late 60s early 70s leave the 80s-90s in the dust...MOSTLY - Page 2

Best album of the 60's :-

Love - Forever Changes

Followed by

It's A Beautiful Day

H P Lovecraft (1st)

Al Kooper - I Stand Alone

Ten Years After - Undead

Plus so many more. the above proves that there is no definitive 'Best', very much subjective. The Beatles never appealed to me and Sgt Pepper was, to me, boring. No offence to Beatle fans but I just never got it,

A friend in a record store was always asking me what I thought the best years were. He had nailed it down to a really small window of about 5 years. This guy was one of the sickest record collectors I have ever met as he actually lived in a commercial warehouse with all his records. It was like going into a library to study going over to visit him.

So here is this guy with a warehouse of music and he is telling me about the 5 year window? This is why I think this is a great question. This is why it's cool to try and cut-up the 80s and 90s.

Led Zeppelin 1 Released January 12, 1969

Black Sabbath 1 Released February 13, 1970

Black Sabbath 2 Paranoid Released September 18, 1970

Black Sabbath 3 Master Of Reality Released July 21, 1970

T-Rex The Slider Released July 23, 1972

Hawkwind Doremi Fasol Latido Released November 1972

Alice Cooper Love It To Death Released January 12, 1971

Golden Earring Moontan Released July 1973

Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon Released March 1, 1973

I would agree with your friend. Pop was still on the radio and few radio stations played "that hippy sh!t". The time was ripe for what happened in this era. Rock with no pop structure.

Ha! This thread is getting really funny. The peak of American popular music has been narrowed down to a five year window encompassing the greatness of Hawkwind and Alice Cooper! Take that, George and Ira!
