Looking for quality CLOSED headphones under $1,000

Hello as the title suggests I am looking at a pair of closed headphones for under $1000

I recently purchased a pair of HD650's and SM3 V2 and have a burson ha160d to compliment them.

However I have realised that I will need a pair of CLOSED headphones to keep the sound leakage at a minimum.

As above sound isolation is important as I like to do some late night listening with people nearby.

In terms of music I listen to I listen to all types from classic/OST/rap/hiphop/alternative/rock/pop although country isn't high on the music rotation.

I really don't need huge bass, but definitely want some bass presence which is punchy and well defined.

Mids/Treble i'd prefer clear and transparent.

Any thoughts?

I am actually thinking of selling my HD650's (they have only been used for like 4 hours max) if the closed headphones provide enough sound quality.

Cheers,

Bigbuddha

Thunderpants.

Editon 8 (used on for sale forum) would have to go on your selection list.

The thunderpants look like to much hassle to get.

Ultrasone edition 8 look nice ... i'd prefer to purchase new which is out of my price range unfortunately.

The D7000 are on my list .. although I have heard that the D5000 is on par with these at half the cost ... then again reviews say that the d5000 also doesn't isolate very well and have plenty of sound leakage ... hopefully the d7000 are not like that.

D7000 definitely sounds better than D5000, but their designs are almost identical. It's true that they're poor at isolation and leak some sound, but still they should be plenty sealed compared to HD650.

I had the markl D5000 and HD 650 at the same time. Pretty much a toss regarding isolation. Maybe they leak less outwards but I don´t care for that. DX 1000 do isolate some but all but stellar. Workable to use with my gaming PC in full run for longer periods which is not open with ported closed headphones or open without some extra stress.

SRH940

I second the SRH940 recommendation, plus in addition I suggest the SRH840.  Don't let the price of the Shures fool you, they can hold their own against many of the top headphone options.

I have never really looked at shures before. Will add to the potential list. Cheers for the suggestion

ATH-W5000 top tier from Audio Technica for $747.00. I am waiting for mine to arrive.

Look into the JVC DX1000 or Denon D7000

D7000, unless isolation is REALLY important to you, as they have more leakage than most closed cans.
