Is my friend damaged Ultimate Ear 700 fixable?

I recently gave a friend a Ultimate Ear 700, but it got damaged. I know nothing about soldering or fixing earphones.

I was wondering if you guys think this is fixable or not. If it is fixable does anyone know how to fix it or point me to someone that does? I will pay labor cost if it doesn't cost to much.DSC01784.JPG

That's really tough!

Anything can be fixed, but the question is how messy it will look. You can get plugs at Radio Shack, but they won't be small. You'll probably have to replace the wires up past the "y" joint. You'll find the wire hard to solder due to coatings probably, so you'll need extra heat. Use some silicone adhesive to insulate, or electrical tape.

Can your friend replace your set?

Oh I gave him the earphones, as a gift. He was about to throw it away, but I wanted to see if anyone can fix it. I'm going to keep it if someone can fix it and I don't care how messy it looks.

He said the plug was already like that and the earphone was already not working before the wires after "y" joint became like that, so I think it's just the plug that is causing the problem?

I don't know anything about what you just mentioned "electrical tape, silicon adhesive". I was wondering if I could send someone this earphone in the mail and have it fix for a price. Then send it back to me, because He and I don't know anything about soldering.
