i don't think anybody can safely recommend amps to you unless you tell us the name of the actual headphone you are pairing with.

even similarly sized drivers can have widely varying sound signatures

I'm gonna go with Denon D2K's, Ray...

If you want musical and sweet, buy a tube amp with DHT (directly heated triode) tubes, like the 2A3, 300B and 45.

They're not terribly common, though, and you'll probably need to drop $2,000 or more to get one.

The headphone is this:

My budget cap for the amplifier is 1000 USD

Any idea or recommendation?

"ATH-W1000x" is more clear than mysterious specs in your OP. Well, tubes are you way. ATs like current and you likely love (will love) tubes. Combine these and your options are:

- Either some horse-power amps Uncle Eric mentioned above.

- Or some affordable options, like hybrid or transformator coupled amps.

My friend likes his SOHA II > W5000 rig. Another one enjoys TTVJ Millett Portable with ATH-EW9. Both amps are hybrid. I tried both ATs mentioned above along with W1000, AD1000, AD1000PRM, AD2000. And I will prefer tubes any day with all these cans. Go tubes.

I do not know. I am also not able to tell by vendor's self-praisings at his site. Though I enjoyed reading them a lot, thanks!

The Taboo has been well-reviewed here on Head-Fi:  http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/535131/review-decware-taboo-an-amazing-achievment

I have no experience with the Taboo, but I will say I LOVE my Decware Zen amp (for speakers).

Might I also suggest the Mapletree Ear+ HD?  Very musical amp suitable for lowish impedances.
