Head to Head as to Deside between 2 powerfull audio cables

Hello everyone

I have a hard time to deside between -

van den hul THE FIRST ULTIMATE MK II

or

XLO  reference 3

The set that I wish to connect it to is to a Vincent headphone amp tube that connected to

The Cambridge Audio docking station for the Ipod ID50

With the headphones that I am using of Bose on ear

Which one will give me the best performances on that set?

Thank you all

Shay w.

Overall I'm feeling good with the Bose headphones set but yes...When time will come for me I will replace them with something consider top audiophile headphones

But for now I'm considering to upgrade the audio cables

Thank u

Okay, a little analogy here.  This is like taking a '90 civic and putting race fuel into it.  It's not going to make it any better and it's not worth the extra expense.  You probably won't find much, if any, difference with a new cable, and you can, for that price, buy a far, far better pair of headphones than the ones you already have.

Just saying.

Well, some people say that it (audio cables) gives an effect. Still it passes the frequency sound throe.  Especially when we are dealing with amp and headphone when the sound of instruments is so close to your ears...

I give you an example, The PL plug that I have used in my amp was from a low type I have built a PL plug from combining – Ampherol PL with the Van Damme cable now I get low noise and less "screaming high sound" (it did not lower completely but hell it did made a change) so then I guess that audio cables truly dose gives some effect.

You seem to be missing the point.  It's not that cables will make no difference, rather, that you would find a far, far more drastic difference if you simply get a new pair of headphones.  "Upgrading" the cables for yours is silly.  You should never spend the same amount you spent on the headphones on a new cable.  Spend the money on a new pair of headphones instead.  I doubt anybody here would recommend anything other than that.

If you're insistent on getting a cable.. why get aftermarket if you can build those things yourself? But yes, ditch the headphones for a better pair and save yourself the money on the cables, honestly.

Even if I will build audio cables myself it will not make the pick standard of the high end of Van den hul or XLO materials and engineering.

As for headphones, yes I will have one day the 'headache' to choose on some of the high end brands.

tell ya the truth, I had the HD25 sennhiser, they were good but the Bose, I feel like they better in providing sound, they cut the sound like a knife and with the right amp they can be amazing

The cable upgrade will be useless if your headphones are rubbish. Honestly, get the better headphones first. Take it from someone who has been at this for 2 decades. smily_headphones1.gif

Well if already we opened up the headphone subject here so what will you recommend me between the Grado 1000i or the sennhiser HD800 for someone that hearing most of the time rock and heavy metal and also classic music sometime ?

I have a silver Van Den Hul cable on my turntable. It came with my tonearm. It's nicely made but nothing special; it doesn't sound different than other cables. It works fine, so I keep it.

If you're deeply into rock, try Grados. The RS-1 would probably be a great fit for you. Since it's cheaper than the others you mentioned, spend $300-$500 or so on a good amp for it. Use whatever cables you already have and it'll sound great.

Yes I have heard good things on Grado's headphones, never had the chance to hear them .. specially I heard that they r good for the specific kind of music that I mostly hear (rock & metal) ..

The Van Den Hul THE FIRST ULTIMATE MK II is simply exquisite, I've tried it sometimes ago, and it was as if music suddenly became more vivid, with an incredible sense of space. The musicians were actually playing in my room. IT should be in everybody's top list of upgrade as the difference it makes is simply incredible. When I listened to Friday night in San Francisco, a feeling of excitement came to me and I started my feet to the sound of music, the peerless talent of the 3 guitars players was all the more enhanced by the vitality of the cable.

On the other hand the XLO Reference 3 is nimble and subtle cable, I would say it brings truth to the music. When I listened to the Mahler's 8th [Bertini], there was nothing added and nothing subtracted, the structure of the piece was as clear as day, almost as if the voice of each instrument was written on its own partition for you. ON a more intimate piece, the XLO Reference brings air between the instruments, the bass is tightened, the treble is under control, every thing to its place, some would call this cable over analytical, but I don't think so, it's music as meant to be heard.

Ultimately, I can't recommend one cable over the other, they both are very different, and both are worth it> If you have the money get both of them and they'll give you hours upon hours of listening pleasure. Don't Forget that your rig is only as good as its weakest link, and one can never be careful enough with the choice of good cables, they are the penultimate link to your whole system.

And in case you didn't notice, this whole post is a joke.
