Blacknile, I agree with you. 100%. Unfortunately I thought these headphone amps gave headphones a boost. Alas! I was wrong. Had I known in advance I would have bought a pair of Grado rs2i (which I have always dreamt owning) instead of this amp.

I'm sure the AKG K702 are great headphones. How do you like them so far (amp considerations aside)?

They are superb headphones for the cash. The are extremely comfy, the sound is well balanced and the level of insight and resolution is top class. They aren't the punchiest headphones maybe, but speakers of equivalent sonic ability would cost 4000 dollars...easily....

I had a pair of Grado 325is and Grado 225 in the past and I actually regret selling both. In spite of the fact I adore these AKG's, the level of realism Grado headphones achieve is just amazing. Too bad they are unconfortable as hell.
