They are researching a new code that allows some things to bypass error checking in electronic devices to save power and extend battery life. Now, this is the problem -- to quote from the article,

 

"A central principle of the framework is to divide code into calls to two distinct APIs.  One API would be used for tasks that demand precision -- say calling a phone number or entering your password.  The other would be for tasks that can afford minor errors -- e.g. streaming audio and video, games and real-time image recognition for augmented-reality applications on mobile devices."

 

I really hope that audio processing doesn't get screwed over by this, I'd rather have shorter battery life than have a bad audio experience.
