Sony MDR-EX600: Impressions Thread - Page 85

I've had the XBA3 and EX600. I liked the EX600 more overall. The 3 has slightly more treble extension, but it sounds disjointed overall. The 600 has much more coherent treble, and the bass dips a bit lower without sounding boomy. The EX600 also wipes the floor in terms of sound stage size and placement. Both were fairly uncomfortable for me in the ear, but we all have different ear sizes...

XB90

What are the ex600 compared to these?

I liked the EX600 better than the XBA40. The XBA couldn't do the bass near as well, the mids weren't as involving. The armatures could a bit better on the treble with the right tips but getting the best treble hurt the coherency so I had to use tips that were a compromise on the high end to have better bass to lower mids. So, not much advantage on the high end either. The EX600 still edged out the victory in sound. Fit was not that great and my right side cable always started unscrewing itself.

I only have the xba30 now (subtle improvements), I love it as it seems pretty balanced to me and its good for many genres, pretty versitile and also comfortable for me. The bass and soundstage are the 2 main things I think could be better, overall I love my 30's.

I think the ex90 will be my next iem, that huge soundstage and bass sounds sweet.

Perhaps I will save up my money for the ex1000 in the future, I have always been so curious about this line (600, 7550, 1000) but the poor isolation and weird fit always put me off.

Yea the H1 is not that great, I got them when they cams out, I intended to replace my xba3 but that didnt happen...

I also bought the xba40 to replace my xba3....that didnt happen either.

I gotta say I am very excited to get the xb90, I have never had a high end dynamic iem before so I am curious to see what the differences between BA and Dynamic are, the ex1000 looks and im sure sounds awesome but dat price...

Perhaps the 600 is a good choice if I cant afford the 1000.

Now i have my ex600 amped by an fiio E12. They increase their dynamics and also became flater (they was amped by an dx50)

Overall have better highs and mids, more controlled bass (even more) and a wider soundstage.

The bass quantity is the same but a lot more "punch" and the mids-highs have a flatter more balanced sounding

In quality everything have

I was thining on getting the ex1000 but since its a lot more money to expend, and now they are sounding greater than before, they will be my 1rst choice for portable

More natural organic timbre for starters, better bass response and a stronger taste of Sony house sound. Having owned XBA-3 and EX600 (twice) I think I'd prefer EX600, but... I'd take a GR07 MK2 over the Sony.. I'd probably take H3 over the EX1000 I heard personally.

Hmm ok

I wish I could buy them both but I have to choose between the xb90 and ex600.

Leaning toward the xb90 because the big bass and soundstage sound cool, in addition I like the more traditional fit and its cheaper.

Maybe one day I will sell my xba30 for a more balanced natural iem, I have been craving that big bass though.

Thanks for the info.

If you want a real taste of dynamic based IEM GR07 has been proven time and time again. The GR07 Classic is about $99 now from lendmeurears. I would skip the XB90 but that's just me..

Goodluck!

Not sure what to do here, I can get the ex600 new for an awesome price of $130, meanwhile the xb90 will always be avaliable online to buy for around the $90 its currently at.

I definitely want the xb90 regardless but the ex600 im curious about but I wonder if I will stay with them, at the price though its a really good deal though.

where are on this price?

So the xb90 is on its way, I am thinking of selling my xba30 for the ex600 so I can have a kind of yin an yang, the xb90 for boomy bass and for everyday street use and the ex600 for quiet calm home use (not sure if the ex600 can be considered a calm balanced headphone as I still hear that the bass is pretty big too).

One thing is that i will miss that mic on my xba30, so damn useful lol
