Hello:
I would like to buy a subwoofer for my stereo listed in my signature. I would like any recommendations for the best bang-for-your-buck subwoofer. The room is not very large at all.
Thanks!

A forum is a place for discussion. Could anyone comment that's not just going to refer me to another forum? :)
I think you should open a thread in the miscellaneous or speaker part of the forum here. High end audio here refers to high end headphone audio. There is definitely some discussion of speakers and the like on head-fi, just not on the main headphone part of the forum.
I suggest building your own subwoofer from a kit. The Parts-express ones look really good. You are getting more for your money and gaining experience. If you are afraid you will mess it up, try to get a friend or relative who knows about constructing things help out. Otherwise, I would tell you to buy used. I buy used everything, and it almost always works great. Check Audiogon and Ebay once you have an idea of what you want.
I second the Titanic III kit from partsexpress (the 12 inch). It's a rugged all purpose sub that works very well for music and HT applications. I prefer sealed subs for music playback whereas ported types (although some are terrific for music) seem to be better at HT duties (IMO at least).
As always placement and careful blending (xover point, phase, eq etc) with your main L/R speakers will make just about any half decent sub work very well ( regardless of cab type be it sealed, ported, isobaric, horn loaded or infinite baffle ) with your room/system gear.
BTW I have 2 x 12 Titanic II subs using the 3 cu ft sealed enclosures ( 504 W plate amps)...they are terrific with my planar/ribbon panels once dialed in ( room correction eq, low xover point, proper phase/ time alignment etc ).
Peete.
