Alessandrini's Concerto Italiano is probably the best name in town when it comes to Vivaldi music. Usually their Naive Classique recordings are on the expensive side, but I just saw amazon is about to release a $16.75 4-disc box-set which includes the exceptional Vespri
the so-so Concerti per archi
the hyper-energetic Gloria
and, last but not least, an highlights collection from the ground-breaking recording of L' Olimpiade
if you want an introduction to this great band, or to the "red priest", you will be hardly pressed to find a better deal...
