How to dismantle Sennheiser hd202?

Hi there.

The cable on my mates headphones have broken a little where the cable goes into the headphone speaker itself. I was wondering if anyone knew how to dismantle these. I get it's probably not worth the effort trying to fix, but I'm bored, and it's for a mate. I got the speaker part off the headband thing, and can see some screws underneath a plastic flap which you use to put the soft ear cover round, but plastic flap gets in the way. How do I get that off?. Sorry for my lack of headphone terminology.

Any help appreciated.

take the pads off first. you should then see four screws on each driver cover. loose them, and just lift the driver cover w/ your fingernails (slip it between the driver cover & housing, and pull the driver cover towards the outside). it'll come off and you should now have access to the driver's solder terminals.

Thanks for the reply. I managed to figure out how to do it in the end. Saying that is was sooo much more difficult than I had thought it was going to be. Just taking it apart took me a whilie to figure out, I really didn't want to break something accidentaly because they weren't mine. And when I did manage to access the terminals, strip the wires and get it all ready, the strands themselves were coated in this wierd red and copper coloured stuff which had to be removed before soldering. Basically, what I thought was going to be a nice simple favour for a friend turned out to be a massive a pain lol. On the plus side, he now owes me ;)

hehehe, those pesky enameled wires. I usually use a lighter to burn the enamel off :D

yh after googling the problem, I found someone who got around it using a lighter as well. Took me forever to get a decent solder joint even after thorough cleaning. Oh well lol. Thanks for the info!
