Blu-ray uncompressed audio question...

question about the astro mixamp and Blu-ray audio in general.
Last night watched Hellboy and switched between using the lossless track and the DD5.1 track. I know the player (Sony S370) is downmixing the lossless and sending along the optical, and that this should be better than the DD5.1 track (probably 1.5 mbps instead of 441 kbps) but I had a volume issue.

Just switching audio tracks the lossless track was so much quieter. And no, I don't mean more dynamic, I mean I had to turn the volume up on the mixamp in order to hear dialogue when switching from the DD5.1 track that was at a comfortable level.
Perhaps I need to check my player's DRC settings? But I normally turn all of those options off.

I wouldn't ask, except the same phenomena occurs between my PS3 and Yamaha RX-V663 when playing LPCM uncompressed blu-ray audio (via HDMI). And I know DRC is turned off there.

Thoughts?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.  Didn't think this belonged in an equipment forum.

The dialnorm setting in the DD5.1 track will dictate a global volume level to your receiver for the track being decoded.  This is a setting mode used by Dolby to ensure that dialog is always targeted at the same level regardless of the dynamics of the rest of the movie.  Depending on the movie you watch (or audio you listen to), this may have drastically different effects on the volume at playback.  It also depends on how the track was encoded. It is not unusual to have a difference in volume between the DD5.1 track and the PCM tracks.
