The V6 sounds good out of DAPs, but it is at its best when amped.

I know it seems like I have neglected this post, but I promise you I haven't. A full-fledge review of the V6 is coming soon. It's been a combination of being busy and enjoying a whole slew of new earphones and IEMs I've have had the pleasure of listening to. I can say right now, however, that the V6 is my favorite IEM out of all of the IEMs and earphones I own. The FXZ200 is right behind it. I haven't heard any IEM that gives as wide of a soundstage and body as the V6 does. But as of today I've put a new custom cable on the V6, the BTG-Audio Starlight silver coated copper cable. This cable brings the soundstage in somewhat, but deepens and thickens the instrumentation even more, and also adds a tad bit of brilliant warmth to the sound. Along with being well made, the Starlight and the V6 seem to be a match made in heaven. So more is to come.

Quote:So, to summarize: the V6 has a wider soundstage and sounds better than everything else in your signature? That is very exciting. It's also exciting that the V6 is a flagship CIEM for less than $700, I can hardly wait for my tax return moneyOriginally Posted by ericp10

eric hows the bass of the v6 compared to the quads. i listen to electronic music ,, mostly bass heavy stuff. not a big basshead but id like some punchy bass. and clean detailed mids.. im almost sold for the v6 just confused if the quads would be more fun. what would u recomend?

Quote:Yes, it's the most technically capable out of everything I own. If I got with what I've heard, the Aurisonics AS-2 is almost neck-to-neck with it, but the soundstage is still wider in the V6. Base on what I own, the JVC FXZ200 come somewhat close in technical brilliance, but the V6 is clearly ahead of it and the rest of the IEMs I own (custom or universal).

Bass is there and definitely noticeable in the V6, but the Quad wins with bass quantity (as it was designed to do). The V6 is designed to be a more neutral IEM than the Quad. But make no mistake, the bass is there in the V6 (especially when the recording calls for it). The cables I'm using on it thickens the bass even more so.

When my car gets its s*** together and stop causing me any more expenses, I am going to do it but probably not this month. As it stands, I may have to wait for another month. I already have the V6 and will probably order a pair of 8A.

I'm really considering the V6 as a second ciem, but I need to make sure it's different enough from my dream earz 7x.

Bro.. you live in Portland (my hometown too, BTW). Drop by 1964Ears' office and see if they've got a demo you can hear. That's what I would do.

Yeah, I suppose that would be a good idea. But that means making an appointment and leaving the comfort of my home. Its a scary world out there
Decided to have them mail me a v6 demo next week. Hopefully my 7X will be back by then so I can compare.
