1964 EARS, may I please have a six pack to go? 1964-V6 in development

Yes, head.fi.org's boys and girls, I have it on very high authority that the yet unnamed 1964 EARS six-drivers BA custom is under development. This is exciting news to me, of course, as 1964 EARS held my hand; answered my seemingly hundreds of questions and gently brought me into the world of custom IEMs. There is not much information I can give you now, but I can emphatically let you know that I haven't been paid or asked to make this announcement. I haven't been promised anything, nor have I requested anything for informing head-fiers of this latest exciting endeavor. So I hope this cuts off at the path the naysayers and conspiracy theorists. As a matter of fact, I kind of had to arm twist the good people at 1964 EARS to allow me to be the first to inform people about what is in the works (and maybe I'm not the first?).

Again, informations is very limited about the 1964-S (THAT IS MY MADE UP NAME...lol, not theirs). What I do know is that the people at 1964 EARS have been listening attentively to their customers and suggestions made by those who are just curious about their products. Since I have only heard the 1964-Q, I can tell you that the quad (and the other custom in-ear monitors) was designed to do just that, be an in-ear monitors for musicians so that they can listen at louder volumes onstage. Some non-musician listeners, for example, complained about the smooth - albeit extended - treble in their IEMs. Well, those highs were designed that way so that musicians could listen comfortably and safely to their in-ear monitors at higher volumes.

The new six-driver 1964 EARS product will be designed to appeal more to the audiophile listener, and it will have a sound signature more appealing and satisfying to those head-fi listeners who like to hear the full range of the sound spectrum at lower volumes. My understanding is that special balanced armatures designed to 1964 EARS' specifications are in the works. I'm not at liberty to say, however, who is working on this with the company and how these drivers will be different. I guess I knew more than I thought I did?? LOL.

So, no set date has been given for when the 1964 EARS six-drivers custom will be available for sale, but I know the powers that be are hoping it will be ready for market before the end of the year. So am I. Of course, a lot of time and effort must go into developing such a product that will hopefully appeal to the audiophile masses with its sound signature, yet be uniquely 1964 EARS. I for one still love my 1964-Q, and I'm glad that 1964 EARS is not stopping to rest on its laurels, but steadily trying to expand its base and niche in this seemingly new customs IEM frontier. Yes, it's a new frontier, but the market seems to be getting crowded at a rapid pace.

I don't see why 1964 EARS wouldn't welcome any suggestions, and of course, I will provide additional details as I'm able to poke and prod and get these tidbits out of the company. The guys (and girls) there seem to stay on the humble tip. There is no bragging about which IEM the six-drivers BA will compete with. My sources insist that they just want to provide a top-notch product that us audiophile listeners will fall in love with. Kudos to 1964 EARS for pressing forward. beerchug.gif

Great news.  Another custom in the works. There is so many choices now that it's kind of hard to find the right one. Well, sometimes, the price dictates the purchase, so hopefully it would be sold competitively.

I was wondering the same thing.. and I haven't even got my QUADS yet... LOL. The way they're tuning the 6-driver to a more audiophile-friendly sound makes the new phone downright irresistible to me.

In other news, my wallet just had an aortic aneurysm

My wallet just cursed me out for starting this thread @ FlySweep, so I understand. By the way, did you ever order the FA-011?

Well, maybe you can compare one to the Sony ex1000 that's coming your way!

Great news @ Kunlun!! I've been waiting to hear when that might be happening. Soon so it sounds from your post? I can't wait!! Actually the 1964-Q is back with 1964 EARS because I had a pin break and a little glitch (no fault of theirs). So hopefully I'll get the EX1000 and my 1964-Q back at the same time.  What did you think of the Sony @ Kunlun?

It sounds interesting indeed. However unless it's at a real good price I don't think I need 3 customs. As a mater of fact I haven't had much interest in my portable rig recently but I do look forward to when this comes out.

It's still in the development stages. There has been no discussion on pricing as of yet (or I'm not privy to that information anyway).

I would speculate, however, that the six-driver custom would be compatible to other six-driver customs on the market already, but again, that's just my speculation. It's nothing that I've been told one way or another. Hopefully the good people at 1964 EARS will come aboard somewhere down the line and provide more details (I hope on this thread). I know they are watching. etysmile.gif
