Reposting my original review from Amazon.com - these headphones are just too good to be left in the dustbin of history - for instance, I just bought a pair of Monoprice MEP-933, listed everywhere...
Somehow, the Ballad of Jed Clampett comes to mind, as I start to write this. You know, the Beverly Hillbillies. He was living his life, struck gold, and everything changed. That's kind of what...
Hi, Head-fiers. This is my first post as a newbie in the forum.
I will give a short introduction of myself. I am 18 years old currently studying in high-school. I love headphones because...
Build Quality: For something hand built, the overall build quality is quite good. Of course, it isn’t nearly as perfect as something from a plastic molding machine but it is far ahead from the...
Disclaimer: My only other good cans to compare these to are Beyerdynamics DT770 (250). I fully realize this review will be biased because of that. So please keep that in mind. This review is my...
I have both and spent quite a bit of time comparing both and the Sony X1000 still wins hands down for SQ. Iphone 4 sounds pretty good, quite surprised, but X1000 still wins. Much better bass, not so harsh highs and better overall sound depth.
Agreed - I also own both (well, ownED the X until recently), and the X blows every Apple product out of the water when it comes to SQ. This ain't even an opinion - it's a fact!
I find the Ipod Touch 4 have better sound quality than the Sony X. The X sounds too thick and warm, while the Touch 4 is clearer and has better treble extension
I own both - and I find the SQ of the Sony hands down better than my Iphone 4.
thing is though Sony has been unused for like 6 months (must get round to selling it) - why if it has better SQ ? Just because I'malways using my Iphone for listening to podcasts etc etc -and rather than switching devices/charging 2 devices up etc

My experience with both of them is slightly different from yours. I do find that the X has a very warm sound sig, but I actually find it clearer and with better treble extension than the touch 4G. I perceive the touch 4G as brighter sounding with the sony having a faster and punchier bass with a tad more overall bass presence. The sony to me, has a slightly smaller soundstage but shows more air between the instruments with a bit more micro detail and micro dynamics. I find that the touch 4G sounds quite digital compared to the X which to me sounds more natural. The technical differences really aren't as night and day but I very much prefer the mid-range of the X. It is very warm and smooth yet very detailed with very good presence. Frankly I just find it more engaging. To my surprise I even preferred the X to the nuforce UDAC 2 and the ibasso D4/D10 DAC. However, with all the podcasts and books I read in ibooks, I use ipod touch way more than the sony X.
