RadioShack wants to be DIY again?

Looks like Radioshack wants feedback from DIYers. Any ideas on what we should lobby for them to stock up on?

Here's hoping that the Canadian equivalent, The Source, will soon follow suit.

some stuff that isn't total crap and not bend us over in prices would be a start.

Didn't Best Buy recently buy them out?  Or, did the deal fall through?  I think it's great that R.S. is focusing on being a "DIY" type of store again.  Their stores get quite crazy at Christmas time when they load the stores up with all of those radio controlled toys.  Then again, I'm not sure if being more "DIY" will make them a survivor.  We've pretty much grown into a disposable society.  Sure, there's a few of us "hobbyists" around who would love to buy our parts from them locally, but i don't think it will be enough for them to keep the lights on.

They'll still have to heavily rely on cell phone sales, extended contract sales - and the other "junk" to stay around and that's still making things a bit "iffy".

I find it hard to believe they can go that route and expect any significant return. Perhaps they just want to call attention to the fact they have electronic parts at all as most local electronic shops have folded due to lack of interest. Fry's can pull it off as they offer just about everything else to compensate for the low margins (even at RS's ridiculous mark-ups, there is little to be made on low volume, low demand sales such as these).

That being said, their Achilles heal has been and always will be their staff and the total lack of knowledge/training in anything beyond cell phones, batteries and RC toys. They can't put parts in the proper bins much less steer a customer to the proper part. The return on investment against staff and staff training is just not there. Most times, the staff has no idea on what is actually contained in those seldom opened drawers. Just a reflection of the times (at least here in the states, I can not speak for other countries).
