SR60 short?

Hello all, first thread :3

I have owned these cans for about two months now.

Within the first week, I voided my warranty with the hole punch mod (but I was thrilled with the results!)

Unfortunately, over the past week, things have been going haywire.

I believe the problem to be a faulty jack or joint, but I don't want to risk the recable if anyone can provide a safer remedy.

The progression of the symptoms, chronologically, has been:

- crackling/distortion in the < 100 hz range (right ear only) at high-ish volumes

- intermittent loss of signal in right ear at modest volumes. comes back on by tapping or turning up volume

- similar symptoms develop in left can.

I found a tear in the insulation, but I doubt it could cause all this havoc:

Have you taken off the pads and checked for hair in the mesh?

That was my biggest "grattle" cause in my Grado headphones.
