Scarred my 325i's. Ideas for a fix?

Finally got around to removing the button on these things. It went very well, except for one part. I somehow lost balance and got a little too close with the flame while heating up the glue.

So, what would you guys do to remedy this?

The things I can think of.

1. Head to the hardware store, and make my own.

2. I think I read before that you can strip the silver off of the grill, i.e. it is black underneath. Anyone know if this is true?

3. Just wait until I get some wood cups. Maybe buy some with the grill attached.

4. Try to purchase an extra one from someone on here.

Anything recommendations?

No suitable material at the local Lowe's to use. Gonna try and shop online.

I don't think it's paint, try using some #0000 steel wool and rubbing it out, or some naptha etc.

Over in the SR-60 Grado mod thread, one member found some nice "mesh" for his Grado mods.  He used one of the round anti-splatter items that you use to cover a fry pan when frying greasy food.  The end result looked fantastic!  It was a stainless steel color like your is.

Others have purchased those mesh desk accessories that are usually sold at dollar stores.  However, in most cases, they only come in black.  The above mentioned item can be purchased from any WalMart.

Thanks! I haven't pics the 325's up since I burnt them, I will have to go check if I get time tomorrow. This forum is always full of good ideas.
