ALO Bling Bling Silver ipod cable

I just bought this off a fellow HF'er here, and it wont work with my ipod touch 4g or iphone 4. Just want to clarify that this is in fact an incompatibility, and not a broken cable.

Hm?  If it's designed to work with an iPod it should work with an iPhone too.  I don't think they changed the cable layout.  Do you not have an older iPod to try it out with?

I only have a 4g ipod. It clicks into place, but the sound continues coming out of the speakers, the dock doesn't seem to be recognized.
