Beyer T1 making popping sounds

Hi, I just got my Beyer T1 and it's incredible... aside from the ridiculous popping during almost all of my music. I'm running it through an E9/E7 (600ohm max) on high gain and listening to all FLAC files and about 95% of my songs have crackling/popping sounds. This does not happen with my Denon D7000s. Is there something wrong with the headphone? I doubt it's THAT revealing considering on the same album one song has immense crackling and the next has none whatsoever. What's going on?

Also, the drivers in both cups are on the right side instead of the center. Is this how it should be, or do I have a bad pair?

Thanks

Well, the bass is disappointing coming from the D7000s, but oh my god that soundstage and detail eek.gif Music sounds so much more natural

I just got the E9/E7 a few days ago to drive my D7Ks, and they do a great job. I ordered the T1s because they are the only other pair of headphones I HAVE to test. Don't know if I'll be keeping them right now. Absolutely ridiculous soundstage, detail, transparency, perfect midrange no sibilance etc...but lacking some bass impact for Metal. If I had the cash, I'd definitely keep both these and the D7ks... but I'm forced to decide on one.

Is my pair fine with the drivers on the far right?

What do you think where the crazy soundstage comes from?
Yes, the drivers are supposed to be decentralized.

Wow I really didn't realize how much I missed the bass till I put my D7000s back on. Instant headbanging ensued darthsmile.gif

Bout to try the T1s for gaming.

Ah, I will be going to T1's, coming from D7000's and Edition 8's.

Bass will be less definitely. I'm very curious how you will percieve this after 1-2 weeks time with T1.

I had the chance to test the T1 for a week. I'm coming from Ultrasone, HJE900, DT990, etc. and I didn't find the bass lacking at all!
In the contrary, it was hammering with Rap music! Extremely punchy - more so than I remember the HFI-780!

I only tried two amps, both with 100 Ohms, so maybe your amp is making the bass lighter.

I'd love to see a comparison of T1 and Ed. 8, though. I'm currently saving for the T1, but you know, "there's something about Ultrasone"... smily_headphones1.gif

I can let you know within a couple of weeks probably

Not to confuse anyone: The bass of the T1 IS less in quantity, but it's still emphasized and more pronounced than the mids. (Highs the most.)

but highs are not harsh I hope?!

The bass isn't necessarily lacking, but let me put it this way. I listened to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmyIcz7vLTw but in 320kbps mp3 (no lossless download) with both headphones. I don't listen to trance, but this is an amazing track and a perfect bass test. And I love FF of course. Here's what happened from the best part of the song, about 0-1:30.

T1: Foot tapping, a little headbanging at the 0:59 mark.

D7000: Uncontrollable monstrous headbanging to the point where my neck hurts rolleyes.gif

I found many such examples in a lot of my metal. But the T1's soundstage and everything just makes it feel so natural.

I just tested the T1s in Black Ops. Basically, they have the soundstage of the AD700 with far superior... everything. As a matter of fact, they're basically perfect for gaming. The only thing I preferred my D7K for was Rez HD, where thumping bass is huge.

God I want to keep both cans SO badly, but they run a total of about $2200. And to think, just 7 months ago it took me a whole month to finally cave in to spending $100 on IEMs.

No, the highs are perfect. Energetic enough and zero sibilance. Thankfully NOTHING like the DT990's.

I was headbanging with the T1s myself... and then I put on the D7000s. It really makes you realize just how majestic the Denon bass is.

I don't listen to rap anymore, but with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQHA_mKi7uY the difference between the two can's bass quantity is very obvious. The T1s have possibly the tightest and most controlled bass ever, but certainly not the highest quantity.
