SOLD: Audio-GD Ref-1 (V5 DSP chip ): Great match for high-end phones!!
Will Ship To: US
Now my Ref-7 has reached the SQ that I cannot distinguish it from my Ref-1 so I would like to let Ref-1 go for a new home. As PCM1704 is running out, this is a great opportunity to get PCM1704-based DAC (and I have two ). And I have tried them with T1, HE-6, and Stax sr-407. All the strengths of these great phone shine through with this high resolution super refined DAC.
This unit has no slots on top so that dust cannot get onto the internal components. It is in sonically and cosmetically excellent condition. I have updated the DSP software to latest version 5 from Audio-GD. And to my ear and gears it sounds almost exactly the same as my new Ref-7 after burnt-in. So this is an excellent chance to get the Audio-GD top tier DAC with very reasonable price. The SQ of Ref-7 and Ref-1 are highly praised by their fans. Some triumphs in the shoot-outs against more expensive DACs can be found in the related threads.
Ref-1 SQ has very extended extremes at both ends. High frequency is refined, crispy, full of air but never edgy or bright. Balanced body weight distributed through the full spectrum. Bass is impactful, deep and solid with excellent texture. It has fully balanced output (XLS/ACSS) and single-ended RCA output, but you enjoy the benefit of using 8 PCM1704 chips either way. It (and Ref-7) is easily the best DACs and step up over those I have heard such as PSA DLIII, Levry DA-10, and Stello DA100. I used it with my Audio-GD Phoenix and Dacware CSP2+ with great synergy. It has BNC and coax inputs and takes only SPFID signal.
I really loved Ref-1 and Ref-7 but have to sell one to get some funds for my potential Stax adventure. The price is HOLD plus shipping cost (<$60 if my memory serves me right) and no Paypal fee if using gift option. Due to its weight, US buyer will have higher priority. I will reserve the right to sell to the established Headfier. Thanks!!
Project86 gave an excellent review on Ref-7, which can give you some in-depth preview of its sound.
