Mapletree Ear+ HD SuperII vs. Headphone Amp in Decco2 - Page 2

In my estimation the LCD-2 is both an unreasonably hard load to drive, not well-balanced, and not especially musical.  I am in the extreme minority.  I have not given up on these cans, but I think they are a fad.  I have not tried a DHT amp with them, but that is what I am looking at next.  I would think twice about getting these cans unless you consider yourself and expert on the topic of driving heavy loads and have a lot of money.  MapleTree amps sound great with a wide variety of dynamic headphone amps that do not cost a bundle.

I have already order the LCD-2, Violectric V200, and Wyred 4 Sound DAC-2. I don't have the opportunity to try out many headphones and gear before I buy them, so I took a chance with the LCD-2.

Frihed - what headphones do you think are not a fad, and are, say, "timeless" ?
