Walkman/iPod dilema

Hi there,

I own the Sony NWZ-S638F player. I want in near future make an upgrade to my portable gear (including headphones). I have some great opportunity to buy iPod nano 4th generation for small amount of money. I have read many reviews and conclusions are pretty damn mixed. All I am intrested in is sound quality.

In What Hi-Fi? magazine they say that there's no portable media player which sounds better than the iPods. Are the iPods really so good? Thier reviews always "sound" to me confident and honest.

So, I'm kind of confused - if iPod nano 4th generation sounds better than my Sony player, I'll buy it, but if it doesn't, which player should I consider to buy in order to replace my Sony player for better one?

Thank you!

I am very curious which magazine said it. I currently have ipod but it is far from being top of the game, to name a few, Cowon (iAudio), Kenwood, iriver, Sony (some), Hifiman, colorfly... L3000.gif
