right, so you sold your iphone, had the HTC long enough to break it and yet you remember the sound of the iphone well enough to remember it was worse than what you are hearing now?

The highest quality music files that my iPod Classic can play is 24-bit/48khz. Any higher and it won't even go into the iPod.

my ipod classic won't play 24bit aiff files, can hear the poor thing quivering trying to play it - but my iphone4 can play them, albeit they are horribly corrupted from the itunes upload process, which happens to my 320kbps mp3s as well.

How on earth are you getting the Iphone4 to play 24bit files? I had to down sample all of mine.

I have no idea, to be honest - I played them through EQu, but I wouldn't have thought that would make any difference. I took the files off my iPhone anyway, they would have brief periods of horrific deafening static on playback through the phone which were not present when playing the tracks through iTunes on my PC, which I assume happened while the phone was synching. I may be completely wrong on this but I don't think the iPhone likes transferring more than 32MB of unpartitioned data through iTunes - although in saying that I've got a couple of 1GB+ apps so if anyone else has any ideas I'm all for it. Outside of googling "Why does Apple suck?" I haven't really followed it up.

I could swear that some of my regular FLAC files are more then 32mb anyway, so converting them to ALAC and then putting them on would cause that problem too, which it doesnt. My itunes doesnt even let me drag-drop them into my iphone, nor does it sync those files, it just skips them.
