DAC suggestions for a macbook pro + HD 558

Hello everyone,

I've been a lurker at head-fi for a while and it's about time I make my first post! But before that, I'd really like to thank you all for taking time to share your knowledge and post your opinions here. It's been of great help!

My Setup : Macbook pro + Sennheiser HD 558

I'm planning to upgrade my setup and get a DAC. I don't really care much about portability as I never listen to music on my ipod/iphone.

I'm thinking of buying a Fiio E7. Do you guys think that will noticeably improve the sound quality on my setup ? I'm happy to buy Fiio E9 in addition to E7, but I've read here that HD 558 won't really benefit much from a dedicated amp.

Are there any other dedicated DACs I should consider for my setup ? My budget is around 150£.

Thanks!

It would also be worth looking into the Audio-gd NFB-12.  Excellent for its price ($200 USD).

Thanks for your reply, Sridhar. NFB-12 is £189 in the UK ( http://www.ampcity.co.uk/audio-gd-dac-amp-nfb-12.html ). That's a little bit too costly for me right now :/

I'd e-mail them directly.  It's listed on their website at $200 USD, which is 124 GBP.
