airport express, DAC option

Thread Starter

I'm currently running my itunes streaming through my airport express into my Audioengine A5 speakers.  The sound quality is obviously "eh," so I'm looking for the cheapest DAC available that could bump up the SQ a bit (I'm not expecting miracles).

Do you think pulling the optical out of my AE with this DAC:

and then running it into my A5s will give me the bump I'm looking for?

Or are there any other sub $100 options that someone can recommend to me?

I wouldn't expect anything that cheap to make any improvement at all honestly.

I am using an Apogee Mini DAC and WireWorld glass optical cable.  Sounds really good.  All files are AIFF from 2010 Mac Mini.  I like Apogee because they know digital audio and it's a well regarded product by the pros.
