How does a real amp sound?

I think this is a great question and thought provoking. Many people out there including myself had no idea about the importance of amps. Probably a good way to realize the importance of amps is to do an A/B comparison to a portable amp and a big home amp. You'll notice that a big amp with a heavy power supply just makes the music sing better. It's like comparing microwave pizza to real pizza from a real oven. It's fresh snow in the forest and a real sensation man.

This thread is aleady a very good read.

Just my 2 cents, An amp for me is probably the most important part of the chain. It controls everything. In laymans terms; if the power isn't there when needed, then the sound will suffer for it. But you will only find this out through using better (or more suited) amps for your hp's. Matching is very important. 600 ohm hp's will definately sound better with a powerfull OTL amp.... don't ask me why rolleyes.gif
