Seek Great Value Amp

Thread Starter

I have a Little Dot I+ that has M8083 / OPA2107 installed from day one. I like the sound, but find the volume often set at around 80% during my sessions.

Thinking about adding a MkIII or another similarly priced amp.

If MkIII is right choice what readily available tubes would give me a well rounded sonic signature for Jazz, Classical, Rock, R & B, and Blues?

I assume the III offers a more refined sound than the I+ and is what I seek.

What are some other solid choices?

I am not much of a detailed A/B comparison guy and prefer to make tweaks initially for better sound and the just let it ride...

I know everyone hears differently and I did give a short listen to the I+ before swaps and the sound did noticeably improve in that case (bass definition and wider soundstage). I more or less am just going along with the consensus here.

Current headphones = AKG-601

On list = AT-M50 and Grado SR-80i

Any and all comments you are willing to render would be greatly appreciated.
