Best 4'-5' PMP in the market

Hello There,

I'm aware of the fact that PMP is so 2008, but call me old fashioned cause I need one.

I did a little reserch and i found that the best PMP's of today have a quite small screen in my opinion (~3.3'.) , unfortunely i'm looking for a player which has a 4.3'-5' screen.

From what i'd seen so far the options are these:

- Cowon O2

- Cowon V5

- Cowon X7

- iriver P7

- Archos 5 Android (not so desirable due the poor sq)

Given the fact that this will be my main and only media player, i'll need the best balance between sq, video quality and reasonable mobilty.

bless you, Omer.

OK, just because it was so funny - you asked for the best 4 foot-5 foot pmp. It's 4"-5",... And I say, just for the great SQ, battery life, and codec support the Cowon V5 is for you (from the choices you provided above).

Also, J&R Music World will have the new 4" & 5" Samsung Galaxy Players out soon - if you want Android goodness, really nice SQ, great battery life - and all the fun apps.

I had the Archos 70 250gb, slow is the keyword. The flash models are said to be decently fast, the HDD model I had was not.

Also, the Cowon D3 is available,...but it's a wonky bugger.

* Hey, im european - dont blame me on the shitty american measurement method.

* I read many bad words on that great-on-the-paper V5 player. Is it an exaggeration?

* If anyone wants to add another medium-big screen pmp not from the list, he's invited.

Well, that doesn't mean you have the right to come off rude, as I was JK'ing around,...

Sadly, as good as the SQ is, the player is damn flawed. Personally I'd wait for the other players I mentioned & see what comes of it (the Samsung's).

Any suggestions people??? popcorn.gif

Archos 43it. Resistive screen, but one of the best out there. Everything else is goodness.

* Sorry if i was misunderstood about that measurement shit, I was joking as well.

The Archos does look great, but what can you tell me about it's SQ? thats good enough for those who used to listen to music with zune, samsung p2, iriver?

Samsung Galaxy S2 + mhl to usb cable + custom android kernel with sound drivers for USB + usb dac/amp with a battery.

Damn these low power usb ports that will not power the DACport. :)

The Galaxy S2 is obviously a great machine, but its also a god damn expensive!

Im looking for a 200$-250$ PMP, not a monster phone..

Check out the archos 43, its quite a decent PMP.

Actually it has pretty lame reviews, mostly cause of its archaic touch screen.

From what im seen so far, the optinions for this range of screen size are pretty awful (correct me if im wrong).

However, I just found out Samsung is about to realease a non-celular 4" Galaxy , which also has really nice price tag. Perhaps it worth the wating time..

I mentioned waiting for the new Samsung Galaxy Player's in my first response to you. I'm waiting for them to be released as well. And if your used to Samsung P2, iriver, or even Zune SQ the Archos devices will be a major letdown IMO. I've owned all BUT the iriver dap's/pmp's, and all my Archos devices were great at video, even the Android Archos 70it 250 was good w/games - but the SQ left me feeling cheated.

Wait for the Samsung players,...I'd highly recommend it.

Yea you right, when I saw your erliar comment i thought by accident you mean the Galaxy S.

I guess now i have to find some old player at home to replace my lost Zune until this stunning machine will go out.

Get a sansa clip+ for your tunes - cheap & the SQ is damn good. Rockbox it and it's even better.

Then, POUNCE on the SAMSUNG when it hits - I know I'm gonna (got my $$$ right here for it!!!)!!!beerchug.gif

The 43's screen got bad reviews for it's screen, but only because the specs said "resistive", and the first fimware was android 2.1.  It now runs android 2.2, and has an easy hack to get the whole android market/google apps. The screen is just as reactive as that on my iPod Touch, but it requires a real tap instead of living skin touching it. I find a tap with my fingernail works great.   I have one, and it has replaced my iPod Touch as the preferred device I carry with me when leaving the house.  Here's my showdown between the two.

If you don't want the S2, wait for the player version with a MHL port. I doubt the 4" Samsung player has USB/MHL, it's based on the Galaxy S1.

Actually, how about a Galaxy S1 ... it has the best audio quality of any smartphone so far. And it's far cheaper than the S2. It just won't run 1080p mkv's through HDMI and you will not be able to use an external USB DAC.
