Subwoofer Repair Please Help

Thread Starter

I have two Yamaha SW118v Subs and at a gig one stopped working and then at the next gig the other one stopped working. I know i am getting signal as i can power other cabs and get signal, so i know the amp and cable are good. When i plug in the subs i get absolutely nothing at all. I took apart the cab and noticed there is a Cap inside. Is it possible this is the cause? How can i tell what i need to replace, i.e. Cap, speaker??   These subs have been run off the same setup for years with no issue.  any thoughts and ideas would be of great help!!

Thanks in advance!!!

You need to diagnose the actual problem. Do you have a multimeter? If so, you can put it across the voicecoils to check for continuity. If you cooked off the voicecoils, you'll need to replace the speakers. Madisound might carry a suitable replacement driver.

If the fault is in the crossover, you can replace the cap or whatever it is that caused the fault.
