Xears Xtreme XT2 PRO

Anyone got a pair of these bad boys? Whilst looking for a pair of the TD III Blackwoods after Joker's very positive write up, I was a little miffed when once more, I was thwarted by unavailability of yet another great contender for best iem bargain. In a rush of blood, I ordered the Xtreme XT2 PRO instead. Now with a name like that, I don't expect anything soft analytical and mid-biased, but since I listen to a large percentage of dance, techno, house and other electronica, I thought what the heck. Just interested if anyone had any experience with them?

Thanks in advance

Hey Riffter.. was looking for a good bargain for either the TD III or N3i but guess we have the same luck! hehe

Hows the Xears Xtreme XT2 PRO that u ordered?

Hows the sound compared to the other two models or a Hippo VB perhaps?

Hey,

I have no experience of the hippo vb, although I understand them to be a basshead's iem. The xtreme are definitely what I would call a basshead's iem - very deep and well defined bass, large on both quantity and quality, whilst at the same time, maintaining a crisp clear higher end. Not sure if you could classify it as v-shaped; perhaps recessed mids, but maybe just everything is recessed compared to the bass. In a nice way. I listen to lots of electronica, dance, house, techno, amongst many other genres, and for these, it is just brilliant for getting your feet tapping and more. I find the bass can be a bit overwhelming over long periods, but I am by no means a basshead. I love these phones though, for the right mood and tunes. They were a bit of an impulse purchase for me, but I am happy with them - they fit nicely into the armoury, so to speak; they have their niche. As for fit, comfort, quality, etc., they are comfortable for me. The barrels are quite large, but I find they fit nicely. The dude who runs Xears - Thomas, I think, is very quick and generous with his deliveries - gave me a free pair of some cheaper iems and a couple of extra pairs of foamies when I ordered  5 pairs a few weeks later. Great service.

Have you actually compare them with the N3i or TD III v2?

These two have rave reviews so wondering if the quality and quantity are close.

you ordered 5 pairs of these XT2?

i am sure he won't give me extras if i only get those XT2.. **** this is so tempting.. i mean for that price! haha

I wanna feel the bass thumping..u know like those kicks and toms..does this give that? hehe

I have not heard either N3i or TD iii v2, so unable to compare, sorry.

I ordered one pair of the xtreme, but liked the foamies that come with them, so ordered 5 pairs of those. I got an extra cheap iem with the xtreme, and a couple of extra pairs of the foamies with the 5 pairs of foamies.

The bass certainly thumps with these - make no mistake. If the offer is still there, I would not hesitate. I was happy to pay 79€, but for that mad 25€ (still there, just checked), I would probably buy 2 pairs, if I was a basshead smily_headphones1.gif

I also listen to other music and sometimes am simply not in that same mood, so I use other IEMs and fullsize cans. I have the Denon ah-d2000 as my full size, and they are simply amazing.... but that is another story.

Good luck on your purchase.

Doesn't the KLANGFUZZIS coupon still apply? If it doesn't, I think I'll got with a pair of Brainwavz though I am afraid I will miss some bass in them.

I just got a reply from Thomas of XEARS a couple of days ago. Awaiting further replies from him.

He did mention that the coupon is still valid. Great deal not to be missed.

I am jumping in the bandwagon!! Yeeehhaaa!! LOL

Yeah, the discount was valid when I ordered my N3i's about 28h ago. 30 EUR, 8 EUR shipping.

So Alex..hows your N3i?

I was planning to buy that for use with my iphone.. but the J-Chord is kind of a turn off but not so big a deal tho..

And not to sure if the XE200pro is a J-Chord too.. planning to get both for the missus and myself

I don't have them already, but I can come back when I do. I've had a J-cord with the CX300-II's and it didn't disturb me. Judging from the review on the XE200's in this thread:http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/478568/multi-iem-review-188-iems-compared-dunu-dn-12-trident-dn-16-hephaes-added-8-10, it hasn't got a J-cord. Apart from the XE200's, I'd check out the TD-III's and the TD-II's. Check out this and scroll down until the last two reviews(TD-III and TD-II):http://portablesdiary.blogspot.com/2011/02/tale-of-two-brands-xears-and-brainwavz.html

Hey Alex...i was in fact inclining towards the TD-III initially.. nice shape and Y-Chord..under consideration.. hehe

But i just have that much issue with J-Chord...can live with that for the great sound.. :)

Thomas too recommended me C100ip.Y-Chord with mic... Will try this out definitely..

problem is that it is on his ebay store instead.. so still liasing with Thomas on purchasing them both together

but still stuck with TD-III or N3i or XE200pro.. hahaha.. which are cheaper from xears.com than his ebay store..

Any idea which is better than Hippo VB? hehe
