Well Japan did announce that it is now in a recession since the earthquakes/tsunami, so it stands to reason that a lot of Japanese companies are feeling the pinch right now.

'Feeling the pinch' is one thing, but divesting yourself of two very highly regarded headphones makes no sense. Japan was in a recession for a LONG time before the tsunami - the disaster actually put paid to hopes of a slow recovery.

On November 17, 2008, Japanese government officials announced that the economy was in a recession.[35] It was reported that Japan's economy contracted at an annual pace of 1.8% in the third quarter of 2008. It is forecasted to have shrunk 0.8% through the fiscal year that ends March 2009. In July 2009 unemployment reached a post-war high of 5.7 per cent, according to the Japan Times. Although the economy is recovering in 2010 levels of public debt remain extremely high, approaching 226% of GDP.[36]

Either way, it means we wont be able to buy a new pair of ES7s or CK10s, and that was the point of my thread - personally, I view both as a great loss to the hobby, but no-one else seems too perturbed. I'll just go back to sorting my sock drawer and waiting for the end of the world:

And I thought we had some 'interesting' opinions on Head-Fi .......  eek.gif

I just recommended the CK10 to someone in Japan...hope they can easily get a pair.

Phasing them out is too bad if they sound like everything I've read about them!

Um, are you just reading into the website literally or what?

You want to know what's not being sold, you go to their website.  Any product grayed out is no longer being produced and clearly labeled as "product ended" ala Japanese.

This is pretty clear.

Agreed. If the cabling ever comes undone from the housing I'm going to turn mine into customs.

Or you could save some money and buy a backup pair now, and keep them in the drawer until your current ones break.

Hmmmm.....

I have a feeling these will hold their resale value for quite some time...

Blimey, the news has made iheadphones.co.uk  up the price from £180 to £260.00!  Oh well so much for trying a pair.  A

Accessory Jack have them for $250 USD with $10 worldwide shipping. Best I've found so far. I might get them now before the price skyrockets. I enjoyed the ES7 and was planning to make the CK10 my first BA IEM. I can't believe it's discontinued.

But that's a US page which hasn't sold the CK10 for over a year.  As far as the US is concerned, the CK10 has been discontinued for over a year.  My point is the Japanese page does not list the CK10 as discontinued.
