Ipod Touch VS Cowon S9?

Hi,

I use a Cowon S9 daily with a pair of Monster Turbine phones, I mostly listen to trance/techno/house but also a lot of other stuff.

My question is how does the Ipod touch compare? I have an Iphone4 which compared to the cowon S9 sounds like crap:(.

Why I'm wondering is because Spotify the most awesome program ever made(?) Is just getting better and better and i use it on my computer as the only musicplayer. And now they are even making it better when you can sync your spotify playlists with your local files as well to your mobile/ipod touch. And it makes life sooooo much easier with sorting lists compared to Cowon which imo is quite bad at handling lists.

So well a "long" post for such a simple question, how does the Ipod Touch compare in sound quality to the Cowon S9?

Flat both are equal,...w/the sound enhancements and EQ active - the S9 dusts the iPod touch. Add the EQu or Equalizer app to the iPod touch and they're pretty much on equal ground. Go with the device that has the best features to suit your needs, as either way you can't go wrong. Though, I see you have a reason to get a touch, buy it w/the assurance you'll be OK with the choice.

Just noticed the Cowon D3 has Android 2.1, which I think has support for Spotify. No official support from spotify i guess but all apps on the android 2.1 version should work with the D3 i guess?

Sadly the Cowon D3 is on the buggy side, and needs the android market to be sideloaded on the player. Even then not all apps will work on the D3,...tbh I'd recommend passing on it. I love Cowon, but I won't recommend a "not ready for prime time" player. The Cowon D3 isn't ready!

Well, since you have an iphone 4 already, just buy the equalizer app.  You don't have to spend on another pmp while gaining the eq settings that set cowon apart.  =)

I'm quite sure my non EQd cowon S9 has better sound the my Iphone4. Haven't tested them a lot but i've heard difference in them.

My Cowon i9 (same sound as the S9 and J3) and my Touch 4G(same sound as the iPhone4), if I compare them with no EQ, the Touch sounds better. The i9 with no EQ doesn't sound impressive at all....but tinker with the EQ and JetEffects, and it can be awesome.

I find the iPhone 4 SQ to be better than a Cowon when the EQ is off. Use the EQ and sound enhancements and Cowon is the winner. Use the EQu or Equalizer apps & the iPhone 4 is back on top (IMO, YMMV).

Hmm maybe I'm wrong then, I didn't try it so much, would be nice to check actually. Think I'm gonna try it again. Only issue is battery time I guess but as from what I understand the Iphone doesn't get hurt by recharging it all the time it shouldn't be a problem.

Those are the 2 EQ apps most of us have tried, and that work like they're supposed to. Test them both, that way you'll know which one works best for you.
