LOL, I was waiting for something like that.  I realize some may perceive it to be frivolous spending, but to tell you a the truth, I have spent $12K on this particular HE90, because it was NOS.  No other DYI or commercially available headphone stand, except the Sennheiser original shown on the photo provides the perfect support and aesthetic appeal of this iconic beauty.  So, yes, I would be willing to spend that kind of money for a mint, original stand like that.  Currently I have it rested on a Woo HP Stand, which has a better arc support roughly the same curvature as the leather headband of the HE90s.  I also cover it with the STAX HPS dust-hood.  Taking it out and putting it back in its box is just too much of a strain on the wire and is really unnecessary as long as it's protected from dust and stored in a safe place.

An old tissue box is fine for me and useful for...late-night computer sessions...

warp08, those are some real nice looking stands :) I would like to get a stand for my K601 one of these days since they are the one set of cans I have that I don't like when I put it back in the box that I got for them. The HD600 box is perfectly functional so it goes back in the box after use.

Also considering those cans are high end I don't really find it outrageous. If people want to pay good money for it and find it worth the cost then that's all that matters. I've also seen people with speakers stands costing as much as the speakers so in that sense this is quite reasonable :p

The funny thing about the HD600 box is that my HE60s came in the exact same box..LOL.  Talk about cost-cutting measures.  Of course the HE60s were/are not exactly cheap to begin with although nowhere near as expensive as their Big Brother.

Larry at Headphile.com also makes some pretty nice stands.  I have one of those as well.  It must be nice to possess the skills to produce something like that.  But if I ever come across one of these "Sennheiser Fournier Wood" custom stands (their official name), I will buy one.

It's the stand that comes with the Sony SA5000s. Don't think it's for sale as a standalone.

Correct!  The metal stand came with my Sony SA5000, but you can order it from Sony parts.
