Well the timing couldn't be better smile.gif but I can't see a RRP.

sweeeeet! price? lol

If this DAC is better than the very good 160D used as a DAC, and pricing is favourable, the new DAC will / should be highly regarded.

Man I seriously hope the Dac-160 + HD160 isn't a cheaper combo than the all in one unit the HD160D which I just purchased tongue.gif

$900 will be the set retail price for people in the US.  $699 + $899 = $1600 for the complete combo.  But the sound is going to be a bit more refined and you do have the advantage of using sepearate units :-).

where did you get that link to the DAC-160? I couldn't find it last night.

$900 for the Dac alone ... interesting ...

Hmmm, $900.  Well, that opens up room for some competition then.  I've been a fan of the older Burr Brown chips in the past but those were in SS implementations.  I've been planning to go w/ Tubes for my desktop amp so I'm not sure if 'musicality' is more desirable over the 'wow' effects of other DACs.  I sure would like to hear more about this comment by Burson from anyone who would care to share.  I'm thinking that detail and resolution is of primary importance from my DAC selection and musicality or coloration can be taken care of w/ the amp.  If anyone cares to chime in I'm all ears.

Am I missing something? Where does it say that the DA-160 costs $900 USD and how do we know what DAC chip is being used? The Wyred 4 Sound DAC-1 retails for $999 USD and comes with an ES9018 32 bit DAC chip and its output stage is also class A discrete, direct coupled. The Burson is much easier on the eye, however.

It doesn't.  Snaps 11 said it cost $900 and then 2 people believed him unquestionably.  You need to ask him if he knows for sure or is just going on something he read/ heard somewhere wink.gif

I know for sure its $900 smily_headphones1.gif.  For the people questioning this DAC:  what product has Burson released that did not perform exceptionally well?  There is no doubt that this DAC will be awesome.......

Sadly, another great product but only single ended. It's not just recording studios that need XLR / balanced..

After this reply I am beginning to question everything you say.

Still waiting for a competent response on the DAC.
