DAP that can drive my Audioengine A5 unamped

I'm looking for a new DAP that has enough power/volume to drive my Audioengine A5 speakers without an amp.   My primary concern by a large margin is audio quality, though I'm also interested in something physically quite small (so no touchscreens etc).  I was wondering if fine people might be able to give me two suggestions: one if I could spend any amount of money, and the second if my budget was $150.

Thanks!

Oh... additionally, I plan on using it with a mac.  I don't know if that matters.

Your Audioengines have an amp built-in, so you don't need to be concerned with the the power of the DAP's internal amp. In fact, what you want would be a device with a line-level output.

But if you're using these with your Mac, you may want to look for an external DAC (digital audio converter) instead of a DAP ((portable) digital audio player). That would be Mac -> DAC -> AE5.

Or am I misunderstanding what you're trying to do?

I'm sorry if I was unclear.  I'm looking for an mp3 player to plug directly into my audioengine a5 speakers (and also my grado sr60 headphones).  I was just saying that I want to make sure that the mp3 player has enough oomph to get good volume.  I only mentioned a mac in terms of compatibility in drivers and loading music onto it.

So basically I'm just wondering what player, small and without touchscreen, is best in sound quality at any price, and then under $150.
