This is an incredible deal. It really was $1500 MSRP because I had one before, and Vanns had it for $300 new past week but became $250 until 5/17 with another instant rebate.

I know it's legit because a friend of mine just received his from when it was $300 from Vann's.  I just ordered it at $250 shipped, no tax!

When I had it, it was one of the best-sounding power conditioners I had heard.  It's not double-conversion "on-line", but for some reason it sounds like it is, possibly due to having the battery in the power-chain.

Bill Gaw of EnoyTheMusic reported it was better than his $3200 Nordost Thor here:

Nobody else got in on the deal?  I finally unboxed this behemoth, which is ginormous.  Got a mini fridge and a halogen light hooked up to it to run in a bit.  BTW, I got an extra $20 off due to a retroactive phone-in coupon, and no, the fan does not spin during normal operations, kicking in only when power is interrupted at the wall.

How does it sound?

How long do the batteries last and how much do they cost to replace?

Great deal.  Just ordered one for my dad.  (He's started to build his audio system, starting with headphones.  So far he has the Rega DAC, PS Audio GCHA, and the AKG 701 and Beydynamic DT990 that I gave him when I upgraded.)

How does APC S15 compare to the Furman Elite 15PFi that I have currently have?  I'm wondering whether I should get the APC S15.

By the way APC S15 is on Stereophile's 2011 Recommended list (the April 2011 issue).

The APC S15 for my dad arrived a couple of days ago.  It's heavy!  He's letting me do some burn-in and testing.  He and I both use a desktop computer as the main source, and I have a few question:

Will plugging the computer and monitor into the S15 benefit the sound (currently I have the computer/monitor on a separate APC battery backup that's on a different electric outlet)?

Should I plug both into the Digital section of the S15?  And will the noise from the computer contaminate the DAC and CD player that's also plugged into the Digital section?

The manual does say flat panel monitor goes in the Digital section but doesn't say anything about computers.  But there's also a Video section; should the monitor go there instead?
