Can someone explain to me something...?

I've been really wanting to know this for a while now so I may properly review some headphones on my time being on HeadFi...

I just want to indicate that I am new to all this audiophile stuff and this is definitely a stupid question, but...

what are lows/mids/highs of audio? How do I identify them?

If someone could explain them to me, that would be great. Love to learn to things. Thanks.

lows are bass.  Think bass guitars and drums, rumbling from explosions, various "beats" . . . those are lows.

Mids are where most of the music is.  Think guitars, vocals, etc.

Highs are treble . . . think flutes, cymbals, and items like that.

I believe there's a chart that gets floated around ever so often that outlines the considered norms . . .

I was just looking for something like this the other day, love it. Thanks!

Also, for those who are curious like me and saw things like "Click chart for more info" on the image, here's where you can actually click: http://www.independentrecording.net/irn/resources/freqchart/main_display.htm
