Ultrasone Pro 750 vs Pro 900

Hi there Head-Fi :).

This may seem like a question that's been asked a few times before (I've been searching for days and come across a few threads) - but mine is a little different. But first, for anyone who stumbles across this thread by searching for the same general comparison, I found some good info here (thanks for the great post, Madpierrot): http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/404655/ultrasone-pro-750-vs-pro-900/30#post_7210404

So, how do the Pro 750's compare with the Pro 900's for gaming? I'm talking about good positional audio in first-person shooter games, so I'm looking for good imaging. Sound stage, while nice, is not that important, it's more about how accurate the positional audio is. If you've tried one and not the other for gaming, does the particular one you tried do well?

Actually I have another question as well - for anyone that has heard or owned both, would the Pro 900's be worth the extra ~$100 in your opinion? I can get the Pro 750's for about $280 and the Pro 900's for about $380. The headphone store that I'm going to in order to demo some headphones only have the 750's; no 900's in stock.

All responses are appreciated. Thanks :D.

I just googled "750 vs 900" yesterday, but not for gaming. :)

I can tell you this: The HFI-780 has better imaging than the DT990. Apparently most Beyerdynamic fans claim S-Logic isn't working for them, thus praise soundstage and imaging of the Beyer.

However, for me, the Ultrasone does much better - I really enjoy the 780 with PC games and PS3.

I have tried the 750 but sadly not long enough to say how much better it is. But I expect both the 750 and 900 to be even better than the 780.

BTW, the T1 has the best and most accurate soundstage I've ever experienced - just in case you want to spend some extra bucks. wink_face.gif

Thanks for the response, Ultrazino!

Good to know Ultrasone's have the potential to be great for gaming as well as music. The T1's are a little bit outside of my price range, but I'll keep them in mind if I ever win the lottery :D.

Thanks again - great post.
